Day 01: San Jose/ Tortuguero National Park

Early in the morning, pick up at major hotels in San José area. Stop for a Costa Rican style breakfast at Grupo Mawamba’s Río Danta Restaurant in Guápiles. This private facility features a comfortable dining room, and beautiful tropical gardens for you to

discover, after breakfast, departure to Caño Blanco dock in Siquirres area. Arrival to Caño Blanco. Board Mawamba’s boat for your ride to Tortuguero and Mawamba Lodge. At 01.00 P.M. Arrival to Mawamba Lodge. Enjoy lunch at the pool restaurant.

This afternoon is a great opportunity to visit the Village of Tortuguero along with your guide. Through this visit you will learn the ways of life of the local residents of Tortuguero. After the visit and some free time, we will return back to the Lodge walking by the trail on the beach directly to the Lodge (weather permitting)

Dinner at the restaurant, located close to the beach entrance. Optional night tour to see the turtles nesting, from July to October (not included in the rate) Overnight at Mawamba lodge, the lodge offers: direct access to the beach, swimming pool,bar, , pool, volleyball sand court and table games, private trails with butterfly garden, kayaks.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Day 02: Tortuguero National Park

Morning boat tour in the Tortuguero Canals. This tour introduces visitors to the rich rainforest and its great array of Wildlife. Early morning hours are a great opportunity to witness the awakening in the forest. Coffee is readily available before departing on the tour, in our coffee room. 8:00 a.m. Return for breakfast at the lodge. 9:30 a.m.

Your naturalist guide will take on a visit to the “Mawamba Park” in our facility that includes the butterfly farms, frog farm and garden, iguana farm, bio-digestor and gardens. This visit is combined with a walk in the trails at the Lodge. Lunch at the pool restaurant. Afternoon canal tour to a different canal than the one visited in the morning boat tour. Dinner at the pool restaurant. Overnight at Mawamba lodge.

 

Day 03: Tortuguero/ Puerto Viejo Beach

Breakfast at your hotel, departure to Siquirres area, lunch, shuttle transfer to Puerto Viejo Beach, here amidst the exotic fauna, lies a vibrant seaside town with gorgeous beaches, crystal clear blue waters, and some of the most amazing surfing opportunities. Fast becoming one of Costa Rica’s premier tourist hot spots, many international surfers come here from all over the world to ride the famed Salsa Brava waves, making this Caribbean influenced town is a ‘must visit’ place when in Limon. Overnight at Cabinas Guarana, It is situated in one of the most quiet and central streets in Puerto Viejo, 200 m. from the beach. The hotel is safe and private, an economy lodge with lush, tropical garden refreshes the environment and view with all of its fantastic flowers and tones of green.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Day 04: Puerto Viejo Beach

Free day to enjoy the beach, we recommend you to visita Cahuita National Park. Overnight at Cabinas Guarana.

 

Day 05: Pacuare River Rafting/ San Jose

Early in the morning, we will pick you up for the rafting tour: Pacuare River is one of the best choices for your adventure treks in Costa Rica. Pacuare is world famous for its sheer beauty. A true river gorge, it is flanked by steep, green walls. Here you enjoy the feeling of total isolation from urban life and the realness of being connected with nature. You see waterfalls cascade into the river from both sides as colorful, tropical birds fly right over your head. Amazing views of this virgin tropical rainforestarea, appear before your eyes as you descend this true exploratory land. Wildlife is abundant, with sloth, toucans, parrots, coatis, morpho butterflies and colorful frogs being common sights.

The white water that is equally exciting. It is not an overly challenging river, but it has a lot rapids, therefore giving you an adventure filled with lots of fun. The 18 mile one day run includes a total of 52 rapids. Few rivers in the world can offer you so many. Typical breakfast on route.

Upon arrival to the river we will gear you up with a life jacket, helmet and paddle and then briefyou with a full safety orientation talk. Finally, it is time to take off down the rapids!

The first 4 miles consist of fun class II-III rapids which is a perfect time to test your new river skills and gain confidence in your team. Here you can find pockets of secondary growth forest that is extremely beautiful. After about 40 minutes we will enter the famous Pacuare River Gorge, which is 5 miles of some of the best white water Costa Rica has to offer. The rapids here are "Terciopelo snake", "Double drop", "Upper and Lower Huacas", "Pin ball" toname a few. You will also see the Huacas watefall, a 150 foot dramatic drop into the river.

After the gorge the rivers opens up to a 5 mile stretch on the Valle del Pacuare, where the river has a different character. It is wide open, which gives you the opportunity to rest a bit and take the opportunity to do some wildlife spotting. The main rapids here are "Cimarrones", "The Play Hole", "El Indio" and "Magnetic Rock". The forest remains just as lush, and the rapids just as fun.

We finish in Siquirres, at our own private exploration center, where you can take a shower, change and enjoy the gardens and terrace while having a beer or two and reflecting with your new friends about the great adventure you just shared, then you will be transferred to San Jose.
